Paytm removed from Google Play store for violating policies

Paytm mobile’s application has been removed from the Google’s play store for repeatedly violating its gambling policies. Paytm is India’s most prominent and valuable startup and its flagship app “Paytm digital wallet” claims 50 Million online users.

The company competes with Google Pay and Phone Pe, on daily basis, however this move by Google’s Play Store can have huge impact on the Paytm App.

What Google has to say on the removal of Paytm App

According to Google, Play store prohibits online casinos and other unregulated apps which promotes any sort of Gambling and that includes apps which facilitates and provokes “Sport betting” in India.

Hence since the company promotes fantasy sport service with its flagship app which is the “Paytm wallet” has repeated violated Google Play store’s policies.

Hence the company has announced this from their official twitter account as well as assured its users that they can use the Wallet app as usual and all their money is safe.

 

Also along with its flagship app “paytm first games” was also removed from play store for violating the same policies repeatedly.

Also Google additionally noted that if an application leads user to another website that allows them to participate in any sort of tournaments that enable users to win “Real Money” or “Cash Prizes” is also violation of the policies laid out by Google’s Play Store.

Google has similarly warned many companies in India about the violation of these “gambling” policies. Also the tech giant has told the companies to pause all the advertising campaigns to drive users to website that offers installation apks or files of sport betting applications.

Google has officially announced it on their official blog and it seems like an attempt from the company to remind the developers in India about its gambling policies a day before the IPL (Indian Premier league) is schedule to start.

Previous season of IPL which lasted for two month has shown the rise of “Sport betting Applications” from India, as you know that sports betting is banned in India, however fantasy sport betting is still not illegal and is not banned.

Fantasy sports betting is a type of betting where users select their favorite players create a team and win money, if their preferred team or players play well.

Google has also asked Disney+Hotstar to display warning before showing advertisements on “Fantasy Sport Betting Applications”.
